Add an "Activity" sort to the front page

This feature would significantly increase activity, even with a smaller community.

The idea is to bump threads to the top of the front page when a new comment is posted, even in older threads. This allows threads to remain alive and discussions to keep going for longer.

By giving visibility to new comments, even in older threads, we avoid creating "dead" threads that are lost down the feed, and therefore a "dead" community with little activity. If there's little activity, there's little incentive to check out the page regularly. If there's more activity, a company can create a lively and bustling community of dedicated, loyal users and customers, increasing user engagement with and excitement around the product.

By bumping threads to the top, we increase visibility of new comments and therefore the likelihood to get more new comments. This keeps conversations alive for longer. Activity then breads more activity, and the community is lively and the users are highly engaged and regularly come back for more.

For instance, I made a comment in a thread from 10 months ago, and it will probably not get much visibility. This online forum has such a feature and it works really well to keep the community alive, even though it is very small.

A very important detail for a good implementation is to highlight new comments on subsequent visits of a thread. This way, users can immediately see what's new in the conversation and respond to that, without having to scan the page for new comments.

If you choose to implement this feature, please make it possible for a community to choose this "Activity" sort as the default sort in the settings.

Thank you.
