Easy agent-controlled toggle to disable/enable Messenger widget

I want a simple way (like a checkbox in the dashboard) for non-technical support agents to disable the Messenger widget when they are unavailable and re-enable it when they are available. This is important because they cannot deal with coding changes every time they need to change their status.
