The leaderboard messes with the incentives of giving feedback. It encourages spamming comments/likes/features, that the user doesn't necessarily need or want.
It would be much better for us if the only incentive to giving feedback, commenting and upvoting would be a desire for the feature in question. The leaderboard creates noise, and interferes with the signal.
It's also noise for everyone not playing the leaderboard-game, which is the majority. Another negative side-effect is the negative emotions of everyone playing the leaderboard-game, but not quite getting there.
TLDR: The leaderboard takes focus away from giving valuable feedback.
