This is actually intentional. Once a message is sent in the Messenger, it can't be re-edited because we want to maintain message integrity and trust. In support and sales conversations, it’s important to keep a clear record of what was actually said, both for accountability and compliance reasons.
Editing sent messages could create confusion for users and mess with notification timing—someone might see one thing, then get shown something else. That said, if you ever make a typo or need to correct something, we encourage sending a follow-up message to clarify.
Good news though: We’re rolling out an update today or tomorrow that will let you delete sent messages! This should help if you ever need to quickly remove something.

I totally understand the trust concerns. However, when we use Messenger to support users on urgent topics, it would be very useful to have the ability to edit a message. Even if we can only edit a message for a limited time, such as 5 minutes, it would be beneficial.
